KAYRA is the artistic name of the argentinian Paula Alvarez. Her life has been branded since her childhood with a craving need of gathering knowledge and to express herself artistically. Thus, at the early age of 11 she began to learn argentinian folk dance, especially drawn to it by its particular percussion and rythm, continuing her later education thru the years in different physical disciplines as aerobics, gymnastics and even Karate-do. As a passionate lover of visual aestetics in all its possibilities, Kayra also studied Visual Arts in form of Paintings, Drawings, Photography, Aerography, Digital Art and Islamic Art among others, achieving a few years later a degree as Graphic Designer at the University of Buenos Aires. Kayra began the practise of Bellydance in Buenos Aires under the wings of one of the most famous dancers of Argentina: the Beduine Sarat, who learned the secrets of the Bellydance from the libanese-argentinian master Amir Thaleb. Afterwards, Kayra continued her education with the bellydancer Mahir, sister of Sarat and with Princess Maiada. In the year 2002, she travels to Málaga, Spain, where she is overwhelmed by the beauty of the cultural expressions of arabic legacy in this region, Andalucia, in music as well as in dance, architecture and certain social behaviours and habits. As she arrived, she began to enhance her knowledge of Bellydance with Mor Abohav (Nabila), who studied under Zaza Hassan and Horacio and Beata Cifuentes in Berlin among others. Kayra met through Nabila, who was born in the Middle East, the preciousness of the forms and the deep significance of the Egyptian Dance. A few months after her arrival and following insistent requests, Kayra began a new chapter in her life as a Dancer: she started to initiate other women in the art of Bellydance in 3 different schools in Malaga (Fuengirola, Benalmádena and Mijas Costa) and offered very successful public performances and shows in reknown places like Hotel "Antequera Golf", "Piramides" in Fuengirola, hotel "Pez Espada" in Torremolinos, shopping Center "Plaza Mayor" in Málaga, Hotel "Las Dunas" in Estepona, Clínica Buchinger in Marbella, Hotel NH "Alanda", to name just a few. Kayra constantly continues to perfectionate her dance in several workshops and seminars.
